The drive is largely a straight shot, but there are a few things about the route that can help ensure a pleasant and hassle-free journey.
When is the Best Time to go to Sonamarg?
Sonamarg is open to tourists from late April to early November. Here’s why timing matters:
Spring (April-May)
Wildflowers are blooming, snow is melting, and the valley is a riot of color. The roads and highways open back up after a long winter, but occasional piles of snow and ice dot the landscape.
Summer (June-August)
High season. The weather is wonderful, days are long, and meadows are their lushest green.
Early Fall (September-October)
There will be fewer visitors, cooler temperatures, and the landscape will turn golden. Great for photographers.
Winter (November to March)
Heavy snowfall hinders land travel to Sonamarg as well. Not recommended unless you want a snow adventure , and the roads are known to be open..
